When I decided to recreate the entire Black Album by Metallica back in August 2021, I knew I had to get the drum kit to sound as close to the original as possible. I spent over a month working on this preset and eventually I found the right combination to get, what I think, is closely matched to what Bob Rock created so many years ago. So now I am making my hard work available to everyone!
You will receive the entire Black Album tracked performance from my YouTube drum covers in a .sd3p project file. 98% of the preset utilizes the main SD3 core library with the hi-hat and an additional layered floor tom coming from The Rock Foundry SDX. Everything that you hear in the samples are mixed within Superior Drummer 3 and no additional FX were used in the DAW. Still need more proof? Check out the links below for more demos.
You MUST have The Rock Foundry SDX to complete the preset. If not, you will be missing the hi-hat I used as well as the tone of the floor tom. This download will be the complete Superior Drummer 3 tracked MIDI performance of every track on the album in .sd3p format, created and played by me, as displayed on my YouTube channel, using the following additional Superior Drummer 3 libraries:
