Description
On January 7th 2020, one of my biggest drumming inspirations since the age of 7, past away. If you couldn’t of guessed, that person is Neil Peart. I’ve follow the band Rush and Neil for as long as I could remember. Every concert I went to, I only focused on Neil. The Professor. He gave a clinic in every show, on every album, and certainly, every interview. Seriously, have you ever heard Neil speak; a literal genius with words. Maybe that’s why he was the lyricist for the band.
It took me 4 years to complete a drum cover for Neil. I could of half assed attempted to cover one of their popular tracks that’s been done a million times, but I wanted this to be special. Sure I picked one of their easier tunes, but it’s a deep cut that not many people have done. The track ‘Cut to the Chase’ comes from their 1993 release, Counterparts. Certainly not difficult by Neil’s standards but it’s got a great kick pattern with an axe chopping hi-hat rhythm. Then the “Bridge Cut” was a fun little task. ðŸ¤
This project has been sitting around in my folders since 2019 pretty much completed as I was planning on doing a full band cover with some friends. That fell through, so I polished it up with a much better sounding kit from Superior Drummer 3 and the Metal Machinery SDX. I think it worked out great. Hope you guys enjoy it, especially you Neil! 🤗
This download will be the complete Superior Drummer 3 tracked MIDI performance in .sd3p format created and played by me, as displayed on my YouTube channel, using the following Superior Drummer 3 libraries:
